The year

Glasgow puts the date on the building. A datestone is not decoration, it is a record: who, where, and the year, incised so it survives the paint. The mark set this way needs no drop shadow and no gradient — the cut is lit from one side and that is the whole effect, so it works in stone, in a debossed cover, on a foil block, or flat with the light turned off.
